Sivananda (Hatha) Yoga is based on the 5 principles of Swami Sivananda as taught by Swami Vishnu-Devananda and is a holistic approach to a Yoga practice. In this traditional Hatha practice a class consists of opening Pranayama (breathing exercises), Sun Salutations followed by 12-15 Asanas that are held for an extended period of time each followed by periods of rest and finishes with a deeply relaxing guided Savasana. 5 Principles - Proper Exercise (Asana) - Proper Breathing (Pranayama) - Proper Diet - Proper Relaxation - Positive Thinking and Meditation Flow - A sequential series that interlinks the shifting of postures to breath forming a continuous flow. This class aims to create a moving, mindful meditation in which awareness of body, breath and mind increases as well as strength, flexibility and focus. Beginners and Intermediate levels are welcome as adjustments and variations are offered throughout the sequences.
Restorative Yin Yoga - A more meditative approach to yoga, Yin Yoga aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality. Poses are held for up to 5min in order to apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body, tendons, fascia, and ligaments, with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A blissful way to unwind from the events of the day and get you into a relaxed state. Ends with a guided Savasana.
Kind Words from students, "Clara's teaching style welcomes all levels and her approach is warm, encouraging and always with a twist of humour. She teaches you to focus on your own practice and live what you learn both on and off the mat. I miss having her as a teacher here in Portugal." -Sandra T. former student
"Wonderful lessons, for all levels! Clara is an AMAZING teacher. I joined some of her classes, and although yoga was not my thing she made me like it! She knows how far she can take you and her lessons can be goal oriented according to Your needs: Cool down after sport, serious and chllenging stretching, mental and body relaxation.... And she is willing to explain you everything she knows about yoga, she is experienced but down to heart, friendly but professional at the same time! And her Thai massage are irreplaceable after a Long surfing day... THUMBS UP!!!" Elena M. review from YogaTrail
"Clara is a wonderful yoga teacher. She is very sweet and her voice is so calming, the sessions often end with everybody sleeping at the end of savasana. She has so much things to say in-between classes too - she has a wonderful understanding and opinion of the yoga culture. Her travels reflect on her open-minded personality. Still my favorite yoga teacher so far!" C. St. Pierre - Canada fromYogaTrail
